ABOUT US     

 

 

The mission of the Florida Association of Teacher Educators is to improve the effectiveness of teacher education through leadership in development of quality programs to prepare teachers, by analyzing issues and practices relating to professional development, and by providing opportunities for personal and professional growth of Association members.
The purposes of FATE include:
·         providing an organized Florida state unit of the Association of Teacher Educators, ATE. (ate1.org)
·         promoting quality teacher education programs in the State of Florida.
·         providing opportunities for individual professional growth for all persons involved in the education community, both school and university-based.
·         working to improve early childhood, elementary, secondary and higher education in Florida.
·         contributing to the knowledge base in teacher education.
·         stimulating and supporting research, investigation, and experimentation within the various fields allied with teacher education, and
·         collaborating with the departments of education and with other professional agencies and organizations for continuous support and reappraisal of effective professional standards for the teaching profession in Florida.

The annual FATE Conference addresses interests of teacher educators, mentor teachers, teachers, preservice teachers, graduate students, district professional development personnel, and other individuals who work to ensure that all children receive a quality education.

 

 


The Florida Association of Teacher Educators currently sponsors two awards.
Fanchon F. Funk FATE Scholars Awards
     Congratulations nominees.  The 2007-08 deadline was May 1st.
     These awards are presented each year at the FATE Conference to four pre-service students
     who are recognized for their potential as outstanding future educators.

 

 

Mary L. Collins Excellence in Teacher Education Award

 

     Congratulations nominees.  The 2007-08 deadline was May 1st.
     This award is presented each year at the FATE Conference to a teacher educator
     who has made a significant and substantial contribution to the profession.
